Geoff Coombes, OAM moves on from Tour de Cure

After 16 years, Tour de Cure co-founder and Director of Development, Geoff Coombes OAM, has decided to step away from his role and the daily operations of Tour de Cure, finishing up on 29 July, 2022. Geoff will continue to support TDC in the community and as a Board Director.

In 2007, together with co-founders Samantha Hollier-James and Gary Bertwistle, Geoff set an ambitious target to raise $2 million for cancer research, support, and prevention. As Tour de Cure nears the $100 million raised in 2023, funding over 630 world class projects and 75 scientific breakthroughs, Geoff has decided that now is the right time to pursue other opportunities.

Geoff has been integral in growing Tour de Cure from its first Signature Tour of 28 riders, to a community of over 15,000 people and some of Australia’s leading organisations who annually take part in our events around the country.

“I am incredibly humbled and proud to have co-founded Tour de Cure and of the impact we will continue to have. I leave knowing that TDC is in great hands, and I will always remain deeply committed to our mission of curing cancer and changing lives,” said Geoff Coombes.

Having established 16-year corporate partnerships and being the driving force behind our 'Be Healthy' kids program engaging over 175,000 children across Australia, Geoff’s legacy is significant. He has helped shape the Tour de Cure culture, participating in over 75 events which equates to more than 300 days on the road.

“Tour de Cure wouldn’t be where it is today without Geoff’s commitment, passion, and leadership. I would like to thank Geoff for his vision and drive towards curing cancer and changing lives. I look forward to working with him as he continues his board position into the future,” said Simon Rountree, Tour de Cure CEO.

On behalf of the Tour de Cure community, thank you Geoff for your unwavering 16 years of service, connecting people to their passion and purpose. We wish you every success in the future.
