Ash and Jess are early career researchers with a passion for finding techniques to prevent, early detect and improve the outcomes of cancer patients. Tour de Cure’s mission is to cure cancer, which they aim to achieve through funding cancer research.
These overlap in agendas see Ash and Jess participating in this year’s SA Discovery Tour which is an ~300km charity bike ride and health / science promotion event. Ash and Jess have a personal goal to raise over $3500 by the 22nd of May and need your help to do this.
Your donations can help to fund ours and others research, for example:
Ash is a pharmacist researcher aiming to develop prediction tools which facilitate counselling of realistic accurate expectations of likely benefit and harms to medicines used in the treatment of advanced cancers. This is important as decision making in advanced cancer is stressful for patients and clinicians, and research indicates patients’ expectations are often vastly different from reality.
Jess is a medical scientist with a passion for diagnostic medicine. Jess is driven to a leave the personal and financial burden the diagnosis and treatment of cancer places on society. Jess’s current focus is on building an in-depth understanding of the cellular regulatory pathways underpinning cancer pathology thus identifying novel drug targets and providing alternative treatment strategies.
