We raise vital funds
Tour de Cure is dedicated to curing cancer.
Through our tours and events, we raise vital funds for the game-changing cancer research, support and prevention projects that will bring our dream of a world without cancer closer to reality.
Your ongoing support is critical.
We cover ground
We love to ride – it's in our DNA - so we're incredibly grateful to the cycling community for embracing our mission to cure cancer. We're also thankful to the people who walk, swim, run and dance to raise funds for cancer projects. However you choose to cover ground for Tour de Cure, you are helping us to tackle cancer. Thank you.
"I will never be a cancer researcher, but I can raise awareness and money in support of those who are."
Kristeen McCarthy, TDC Rider
We fund brilliant minds
The cancer research that’s being done today by our scientists is helping to make a better tomorrow for us all. We fund all types of cancer research projects and are proud to support some of Australia’s leading medical research institutes, particularly in their formative stages when leverage is crucial for funding and endorsement. We also offer funding to the most talented cancer research leaders of tomorrow.
Since 2007, we've funded more than 266 cancer projects and achieved 21 significant cancer breakthroughs.
We bring comfort and support
Cancer takes a terrible emotional, physical and financial toll on those it affects. Nobody should have to face cancer alone. We find and fund incredible cancer support projects that make all the difference to patients, families, caregivers and communities – from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
We raise awareness
We know that 1 in 3 cancers are preventable so we fund cancer prevention projects across Australia. We also actively raise awareness about cancer risks and promote healthy living to schools through our Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy program.
Did you know?
For every 100 kilometres a patient lives from radiotherapy, they have a 6% greater chance of dying than city patients.
On every tour, we visit regional communities and donate $10,000 to local cancer projects because we've seen first-hand how much harder it is to access care and support away from major towns or cities in Australia.
If you're a local cancer charity, check out our routes on tour to see if we're passing through your town. We'd love to hear from you.
People are at the heart of what we do. Through our tours and events across Australia, we hear incredible stories of survival, loss, inspiration, heartbreak and determination. It's these stories that motivate us to keep working tirelessly.
Meet Chris White
After recovering from stage 4 Hodgkins lymphoma, Chris successfully rode on Signature Tour 2017. Listen to his story.
How research saved my life
In October of 2014, after being ill for months and following several wrong diagnoses, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins lymphoma. Scans revealed numerous tumours including a tumour larger than a grapefruit behind my sternum. Told that with chemo I had less than 25% chance of survival, I was offered a place in a clinical trial of a new drug. Being randomised onto this trial saved my life. The incredible doctors and nursing staff at the ONJCC in Melbourne saved my life. I am one of the lucky ones. I am now a proud father of a three-month old boy, conceived through IVF. I wish for every cancer sufferer to be as lucky as I am. Due to nerve damage from treatment cycling has played a critical role in my rehabilitation. Continuing to ride and raising money for research is an exciting and humbling experience.
"Barely 50 years ago, childhood cancer was virtually a death sentence. Through medical research the survival rates for children’s cancer are up at around nearly 80%. It’s really one of the miracles of modern medicine."
Professor Michelle Haber AM, Children's Cancer Institute
