Non-coding RNAs as mediators of metabolic change in colorectal cancer cells. As cancer cells generate their energy differently to normal cells, this presents a possible Achilles' heel that can be targeted to specifically kill cancer cells. Understanding how metabolism is regulated in cancer cells is likely to advance cancer control and therapy. This proposal seeks to investigate the role that "non-coding RNAs" (gene-regulating molecules that are actually produced by our genes), play in controlling cancer cell metabolism.
