The Rural and Regional Outreach Clinics
The Rural and Regional Outreach Clinics Project exists to provide as much treatment and support to patients close to where they live, lessening their travel and allowing them to build relationships with local health care workers. This reduces the impact, burden and stress on the entire family and allows the children to retain a sense of normality whilst accessing expert care.
The Project provides a vital service within the community through building links with Sydney Children’s Hospital oncology specialists and local paediatricians, GPs, community hospitals and palliative care services. This will allow our staff to share their clinical expertise in the field of oncology and educate rural and regional healthcare workers to provide better outcomes for children and adolescents with cancer.
