Inspiring kids and communities
Every parent wants the best for their child and so do we.
We're passionate about visiting primary schools across Australia to help raise awareness about cancer prevention and encourage kids to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
Did you know?
1 in 3 cancers are preventable. Small changes to lifestyle and eating habits can make a huge difference to a child's future. Every time we visit a school community, we encourage the kids to embrace health and fitness. And of course, we're always delighted to see kids jumping on their bikes and riding to school!
Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy program
There's a reason our tours only run during term time. That's because we want to reach as many school children as possible through our Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy program. Riding into the school, meeting the kids and giving a short, fun-filled presentation is a highlight of every tour. Together, we help to demystify cancer and encourage the kids and their school community to make healthy lifestyle choices for their future.
On every school visit we raise awareness that a combination of the following factors can increase the risk of cancer:
- Sun exposure
- Being overweight
- A lack of physical activity
- Eating too much red and processed meat
- Not eating enough fruit and vegetables
- Drinking too much alcohol
“Cancer is an issue that will probably touch all families at some point in time. It's why I'm so passionate about this program and educating children about cancer, its causes and how it can be prevented.”
Heidi Bramberger, TDC Rider

"I'm so grateful to Tour de Cure. Experiencing the Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy program helped me to talk to my own kids about my cancer."

Cancer awareness pack
Thanks to the ongoing generosity of supporters – individuals, families, corporate partners and community groups – we're able to distribute cancer awareness packs to every child at every school we visit. The packs contain our extremely popular high-bounce balls – guaranteeing hours of handball fun in the playground – sunscreen and of course, our very own cancer books. We created and published these books to help children and their families navigate the cancer experience and to promote health and wellbeing.
What I wish I knew about cancer
This is a collection of inspirational, uplifting and heartbreaking stories about cancer. Each story is written from a personal perspective, that can help people and their loved ones feel less alone and isolated as they cope with cancer, its treatment and its impact.
"The kids I teach at St. Augustine's, Maryborough, were very excited after your visit. They kept asking me if the book in their bags were "Be fit" books. My own kids loved seeing you at their school too."
